The Painting department is one of the oldest and principal departments of the P. Terlemezyan State College of Fine Arts, where great masters such as Sedrak Arakelyan, Vrtanes Akhikyan, Gabriel Gyurjyan and Stepan Aghajanyan once taught. For decades the principles and problems of academic painting, drawing and composition have been taught here, following curricula developed and approved by our distinguished painter-instructors. Alongside the core professional subjects, anatomy and technology classes, a special place is reserved for summer plein-air work, which is traditionally shown at the year-end report exhibitions.
Through state educational standards, approved curricula and subject programs, the college prepares highly qualified specialists for creative work in easel painting, as well as for teaching painting and drawing.
